The cold weather has not been kind to my powder foundation. In reading one of my new favorite blogs andeelayne.blogspot.com, I decieded i would once again try liquid. I took her recommendation of loreal true match....Tried it this morning andI kinda love it. Cost $8.00

Lipstick:
This fall on tour my dear touring freind Mimi had been rocking a gorgeous lipstick. Searched all of Europe for it, finally last night i deciede it was time to splurg. I stopped into Sephora and picked it up! BITE Beauty....color "Pepper" creamy and perfect for fall/winter and bonus their lipstick is all organic and loaded with antioxidents. Yum :) Cost: $24.00

Powder Blush:
Illamasqua in the color of "Lover" peachy, pink and perfect for natural look or with a dark eye. really really excited with this purchase. This color will work year round. Cost $24.00

also picked up my go-to masquera from Cover Girl LashBlast, Volumizing Water Proof in very black. Never lets me down and doesnt end up at my cheeks by mid-day like my other masquera that I will be kind and not name :)

Making Friends

He comes home Wednesday and we cant wait.

This Sunday Hunter, Vanessa and I went to the Venice beach. We played volleyball with a group of people. The girls held their own in a game with a bunch of grow ups. I was so proud of them! It was such a good workout and so much fun. Why dont i do this more often? I even went for a quick dip. So cold that i took my breath away...its really feeling like summer and I loved every second of it.

Memorial Day

I hope everyone had a beautiful holiday weekend. We did! The weather was amazing. We even made it to the beach yesterday....reminding myself..Why don't I go more often!

The most meaningful part of the weekend was the Flag Placement we did at the Veterans Cemetery. A few girls from Hunters girls scout troop got together to help. By the end of the 2nd hour a flag had been placed on EVERY headstone. The place was filled with soldiers, girls scouts, boy scouts, sea scouts, ROTC, American heritage girls. Its quite surreal looking across acres of land and realizing that all these people gave their lives to their country.

Reasons why I love spring..... Please say hello to my little friend. This orchid was left for dead. Only the bit of green left on a long dry steam. We waited it out through winter and early spring.....now this..... beautiful :0)

The Mission

I've waited my entire school life for this project. When I was in 4th grade all the other classes made their missions, for some reason...ours did not. Finally, 20 years later(yikes) its Hunters turn. In typical Hayflich fashion, a day before its due, we sit down to make this mission. I refuse to spend money on a kit and with the help of friends gathered old school boxes, construction paper, clay and Styrofoam and let loose my creative juices. At 11 pm last night, as I sprinkled my last bits of silver glitter into the historic fountain of the Santa Barbara mission, I did a happy dance. This thing looks like the real deal! A+ for sure.

So this morning we walk this four foot wide mission into school. In passing Hunters school mates comment on how cool it looks and Hunter and I proudly respond THANK YOU with a giggle.

My jaw dropped when I walked into class and saw the other missions. I wanted to ask the parents what architect they hired to build their child's mission! Miniature people, glass windows, wooden crosses, cemeteries with miniature coffins. What in hell!

Oh well, Im proud anyway. At least my mission looks like a 4th grader made it and not a USC graduate with a masters in engineering!

I had all of two hours to myself to walk around and explore Ho Chi Minh. Of Course, Of COURSE, a little old man talks me into taking a quick site seeing ride around the city on the front seat of his bike. This little man was 1/2 my size and lets just say I am jealous of the workout he got.

I had the opportunity to ride to the venue on my agents Motorcycle. I said my prayers. Traffic in Vietnam has no rules. Its a flow... Everyone goes 30 miles (except my agent...who proudly drove his Honda speed racer type.) So the rule is...as long as you make eye contact with the other driver its your right of way.?? P.s I almost died twice crossing the street

Tons of little street vendors. These little fruits that she sold were a yummy treat on my bike ride. Tasted almost like a plum/cherry
Before I left the US we received an email from the tour promoter. "Dont drink the water, dont have drinks with ice" I guess i should have listened...but I didnt. I sucked down every delicious iced coffee, street sandwhich, fresh pho soup that I could find :)

Bob Closed that night with Watchtower and Like a Rolling Stone. Standing and watching the show that night, it felt surely and historic. Bob Dylan had such a voice during the Vietnam war and now here I was with the priceless opportunity to see him preform in old Saigon.

I loved Vietnam. I missed it when I left. I loved the humid weather. Something special radiates from the land. Its alive, its feels. Its hard to explain. The people were very kind. The food was very exotic and fun. I hope one day to take my family back for a visit.

My newest newphew Miles Charles Copeland and his very proud, and maybe a little tired mommy. Born at 16:47 on 29th MAR 2011 in Yakota Japan, 8 lbs 4.6 oz, 21 in.

My heart is filled with love for Caitlin and Jeff. And I am so blessed that I have the oppertunity to visit them in a few weeks.

Thank God Marley was not in the car and aside from my sore neck, extreme headache and hunter biting her lip we are okay. Thankfully I had already swallowed my last bite of scrumish peppermint patty, thus not choking (way to kill my chocolate high :( Thankfully a santa monica officer was at the scene of the crime(witness). Thank God there was no pedestrians crossing the street! Thankfully it wasnt my fault. Thankfully my car looks good covered with blue fun dip (and so does hunters face) Thankfully it was another Passat that hit us! and despite the fact that they were going a little too fast, neither car was really hurt too badly.

Anyway, Im learning how to play "we got tonight" by Bob Segar on the piano. Sounds aaaaawesome. cant wait to serenade everyone.

Tricky little gnomes…

Some of you may or may not know… that I have wanted a garden gnome. Some of you may or may not know that this “Want” started back in 2001…when I fist watch Amelie and I sincerely realized that I too needed a traveling friend. I mean who else would eat the wild mushrooms in my yard and keep my landscape happy?

Anyway…here we are in 2010 and last Saturday 29th MAY, I wake up and remember that I NEED TO FIND a garden gnome….and now. I think this same morning Dave realized how badly he NEEDED a Garden Gnome(were so alike) and so we set out on a mission. Let me tell you, we went to Osh, Armstrong, Home Depot, Garden Center, Boutiques…. Each stop the shop clerk would say, “Oh yes, We have gnomes” and point us in the right direction… “They should be by the glass mushrooms” or “over in the back corner by the water fountains”. Only to find…nothing! Not a gnome in site. This happened store after store. As we left the 6th store of the day.. Dave made a good point. “Michelle, We are going about this all wrong” Gnomes are tricky, you have to find them… You cant just go BUY a gnome. Of course! What was I thinking.

A day later Dave left for another scrap metal mission and I just put it out there…in case he crossed paths with any gnomes in the Midwest…to just go ahead an bring him on home. Meanwhile I searched online but there was just no chemistry…

What are the chances?

As Dave and Dave are making their way through Kentucky…they come across a once a year extravaganza. The 400 miles long yard sale, happens once a year, on two random days in June… Nice timing guys. As they are strolling down these massive yard sales that stretches from Illinois to Kentucky, they come across an unmistakable face in an unmistakable outfit.

I received a text last Friday with this picture. And like any proud gnome owner, I knew this one was meant for us! When you gnome...ya gnome, Like true love :) All it took was 9 years, a trip to Louisville, KY and $2.00 to find our mischievous garden friend.

Dave and our To Be Named gnome come home on the 12th JUN and I couldn’t be more excited... Looks like they are having a blast together...

And Yes... Dave and Dave are two big strong guys, in a 24ft truck, traveling through the east with a gnome in the cab of their truck. I personally couldnt think of anything more manly.

Walk for Hunger

This Sunday we walked the Childrens Walk for Hunger 5K. Her little brownie troop raised $750 for the children. We were the top 5 earners of the event. Hunter hated it and begged me to turn around the entire time. I grounded her 5 times through out the walk...but! we made it. Somehow....Somehow... the kid got a build-A-bear and McDonalds there after.

Side note, the cirque de-soilel preformers were practicing near the pier. Was kinda cool.. free show.

Marleys New Doo

Today we were feeling the need to add a kitty to our family. We loaded the car and off we went to the Lange Foundation http://www.langefoundation.com/index/Cats.html . ( Please feel free to visit the site and feast your eyes who we had the privilege of meeting. Dimitri was my favorite... he bit me several times.) To our surprise they wouldn't let Marley in to help us pick a kitty. Just our luck, we parked right in front of a grooming salon. So we decided to drop him for a bath and a pedicure.

We petted and held a dozen kitties. We fell in love with a 8 month old Grey, Long haired Main Coon. Named Malory...not on the website. as we went to fill out the application, I looked at Hunters face. Her eyes were all red. Her nose was all snotty. Poor thing, guess she's still allergic and I guess Malory's not coming home with us :(

The highlight of the trip was when I walked in to pick up Marley. I didn't even recognize him! They puffed him up like a real treat. He can barely see out through his fur. Its very exciting and distracted us from the pain of not taking home a long haired kitty. We shall call him Cotton. Just until he licks it down again.

All the girls spent the night. It reminds me so much of when we were kids. I loved sleep overs. Watching these children grow, right before my eyes...just blows my mind. Where has the time gone? This evening in the car, they sang every song on the radio at the top of their longs. Came home and played hotel. ate. Danced to music videos. ate again. giggled. ate some more

I miss those days...but sure do love reliving them this way.

Our little Halloween tradition.. The Big Boo, we've taken Hunter since she was a baby. Dave's gone ever since he was in this same elementary school. Even Mimi (Dave'a mom) joined us for the festivities. My favorite part was the taaa-co's :) or was it the cheese tamale's. Cant remember ;) but my diet is officially blown.

Hannah, Hunter and I had a lovely day celebrating fall :)

Picked Pomegranate's from Mommy's yard. Went to the farm and feed the beautiful Long horns and big brown eyed emu's and biggest piggy i've ever seen. Admired fuzzy chickens, beautiful sunflowers. Enjoyed Cow rides, corn mazes, flip-flops covered in mud :) pumpkin pie, lemonade, kettle corn. Bought our first pumpkin of the season. .... It was a fortune of fun :P

Guess who Came Back to Town!

ThE CiRcUs! :)

So about 15 years ago Papa, Grampa, and Meme took Nats and I to see Cirque de Soilei in Santa Monica. My memories of that show where the grandest! Since that show I have never seen another cirque show or circus for the matter, that could compare to it, until last night....

They came back with Kooza. Not your typical dark Cirque story.

Cirque De Soilei set up at Santa Monica Pier and we had the awesome privilege of seeing the dress rehearsal. Dave and I agreed that this was by far the greatest show we had ever seen.

I'm trying to find the words to explain it. Colorful! Funny! Breathtaking! Rockin! I've Got it! It was like watching Moulin Rouge live! Spectacular!

In the typical cirque fashion they had a bunch of fun masks.

The Rain

For the first time in a long time Hunter slept through the night in her own bed. I think it has something to do with the rain that softly pitter-pattered all day yesterday, all night....and now all morning.

Marley on the other hand is quite depressed. He hates it when his paws get wet and his favorite porcupine is drenched. Its safe to say that Marely has a bad case of cabin fever. He sulked all night on the couch only to take a 10min break of tormenting Hunters stuffed animals. Nothing is more hilarious than watching Hunter chase after Marley, while he growls and shakes the life out of one of her priceless build-a-bears. Viscous!
